10 tonnes of compost from SITA UK to support world record planting attempt

Over 10 tonnes of compost from SITA UK was used to support Preston City Council’s part in the world record attempt to plant the most trees in one hour.

Ashton Park was the setting for the attempt, which was organised by the BBC, and similar events took place at the same time all around the country in the hope of planting 250,000 trees between 11am and 12noon on Saturday 5th December. Entries from across the country are still being counted and although a Guinness World Record has not been confirmed, over 230,000 trees nationwide were planted during the hour challenge.

Around 80 volunteers from around Preston came along to lend their support and labour and 750 trees were planted within the hour.
