Abdex Hose & Couplings offer only Thermoplastic hose to meet latest EU Directive

As a world leader in the design, manufacture and supply of ultra high pressure hose assemblies, Abdex Hose & Couplings supplies assemblies that comply with the latest EU directive relating to water jetting applications.

Ultra high pressure water jetting is becoming an increasingly popular method of tackling a diverse range of demanding tasks in many industries including industrial cleaning, construction, shipbuilding, hydrodemolition, chemicals and oil refining. Typical applications include marine paint removal, concrete removal, tube cleaning of heat exchangers, water cutting and surface preparation. Unsurprisingly, when operating water jetting equipment at ultra high pressures up to 58,000 psi (4000 bar), absolute safety is paramount. There is no room for compromise where equipment failure could lead to serious injuries or even fatalities.

At the heart of the water jetting hose assemblies manufactured and supplied by Abdex lies a unique Polyflex thermoplastic hose. This hose has been developed to not only meet the requirements of the latest EU directive (BSEN 1829-2) but also to set unparalleled standards of performance, reliability and safety.

The BSEN 1829-2 directive also requires suppliers to provide proof of conformity and test certificates covering hose assemblies. In recent years, Abdex has invested heavily in state-of-the-art testing facilities to confirm the security and integrity of hose assemblies at pressures up to 100,000 psi (7,000 bar). Accordingly, all Polyflex Ultra High Pressure hoses and fittings supplied for water jetting applications undergo stringent manufacturing procedures including temperature, pressure and continuous cycle impulse testing to achieve the BSEN 1829-2 accreditation.

Abdex also provides individual identification of hoses and assemblies thereby ensuring traceability of every assembly throughout its working life. In addition, the company can supply personalised and branded hoses which not only enables customers to promote their particular bands but also acts as a health and safety aid with the printed hose showing details of its contents, applications and information on safe use.

"We have increased our stockholding of the Polyflex Ultra High Pressure hose to meet an ever-growing demand", says Oliver Bain, Abdex’s managing director. "Water jetting is one of our fastest growing markets and, as members of the Water Jetting Association, we are pleased that the BSEN 1829-2 directive has been incorporated into the Association’s Code of Practice. We are certainly winning business from customers who recognise the unique benefits of the Polyflex Ultra High Pressure hose and appreciate the resultant peace of mind in knowing that the product is the safest on the market."
