RoSPA awards Occupational Health & Safety Award to DHL Supply Chain
Recognising a well developed safety culture
DHL Supply Chain has won a Gold award in The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) prestigious Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2011.
The accolade recognises the outstanding performance of DHL Supply Chain's Temperature Controlled Network and the company's well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, high levels of risk-control and minimal levels of error, harm and loss.
RoSPA, a safety charity, launched its awards programme 55 years ago. The scheme looks not only at accident records, but also entrants' overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
The awards were presented at a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Thursday 19th May 2011.
Matthew Butt, Regional Health and Safety Manager at DHL Supply Chain, said: "This is a fantastic achievement for DHL. As a leader in the logistics industry, we take the health and safety of our workers very seriously. It's great to receive such a high level of recognition for our consistent performance and development.
"We are very fortunate to work with customers who also strive for health and safety excellence, which makes the process run more smoothly and enables us to efficiently meet our aims. The award marks an outstanding year of health and safety performance and we're looking forward to continuing to ensure the sustained development of our people and core safety systems is at the heart of everything we do."
David Rawlins, RoSPA's awards manager, said: "RoSPA firmly believes that organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention deserve recognition. DHL Supply Chain has shown that it is committed to striving for such continuous improvement and we are delighted to honour it through the presentation of an award."
