Slingsby is reinforcing its position as the UK’s leading workplace equipment provider by investing in a state of the art salt distribution centre and bagging plant in order to meet demand as increasing numbers of workplaces stock-pile salt to reduce the disruption caused by winter weather.
The new facility enables Slingsby to provide next day delivery anywhere in the UK on a full range of products to tackle snow and ice including salt, rock salt and grit in quantities ranging from 25kg to several tonnes.
As part of the investment an area at the company’s head quarters at Baildon in West Yorkshire has been reinforced with concrete in order to store large quantities of bagged salt and three loading bays have been built to separate the raw materials, along with a state of the art bagging plant housing the latest machinery.
Lee Wright, Marketing Director of Slingsby, which supplies more than 35,000 workplace products, explains: "The last few winters have been severe and each time we’ve been one of the only companies that had sufficient stocks of winter products to meet demand and we were also able to continue delivering despite the chaos that the snow and ice brought.
"This has helped us build a large customer base, which includes businesses and organisations of all sizes that see us as the number one choice for winter products and this latest investment is a direct result of demand from customers wanting to buy salt at all times of the year. Every winter there’s a shortage of salt so increasing numbers of workplaces are now choosing to buy it early which makes sense because it’s cost effective and can be stored for long periods of time."
Slingsby’s winter product range includes everything from snow shovels to salt spreaders and is complemented by the company’s on-site plastic moulding facility which produces grit bins and other similar products using recycled plastic.
