Business Secretary given flavour of Midlands Engineering excellence

The Business Secretary, the Rt Hon Vince Cable MP, was given a flavour of the depth of engineering innovation and excellence in the SME sector in the Midlands during his visit to Solihull yesterday.

Attending a private luncheon for Solihull business people, Mr Cable met Whale Tankers’ Managing Director Mark Warmington, who showed him one of the company’s latest products – a ‘KaiserWhale’ dirty water recycling vacuum tanker and jetting machine.

"I was delighted to meet Mr Cable and to be able to give him an insight into the innovation and engineering excellence at an SME level that is playing a vital role in the wider Midlands economy" said Mark Warmington. "Major capital equipment such as the KaiserWhale, which is a continuous water recycling machine with significant environmental advantages, is an example of the outstanding design and manufacturing capability that is thriving right here in Solihull, winning orders in both domestic and export markets and sustaining highly skilled jobs."
