Carrier Transicold transport refrigeration and air conditioning celebrates PACE Awards

Service partners across the Carrier Transicold UK network have been rewarded for increased performance levels as the company celebrates the second year of its Performance Assessment and Competitive Excellence (PACE) Awards. Carrier Transicold is part of Carrier Corp., the world’s leader in high technology heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration solutions, improving the world around us through engineered innovation and environmental stewardship. Carrier Corp. is a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The PACE programme assesses service partners against 20 stringent key performance indicators (KPIs) including planned maintenance completion rates, breakdown response times, first time fix rates and spares availability – each monitored in real-time via unique web management software. It also includes 45 individual service standards which cover areas including branding and image, quality of workshop facilities and mobile servicing units, environmental compliance and stockholding levels.

Lynton Refrigeration, trading as Carrier Transicold Manchester, was named "Service Partner of the Year 2010" whilst second and third places were presented to Carrier Transicold North West and Carrier Transicold Southern respectively – achieving "Premier Service Partner" status.

Scott Dargan, operations director at Carrier Transicold UK, said, "Overall performance has increased by 12 per cent across the network following a number of targets introduced as a result of the excellent achievements in 2009.

"The PACE scheme is an additional way to differentiate ourselves and ensure the Carrier operation is delivering to a consistently high standard. Customers rely on us to keep downtime to a minimum and by closely monitoring breakdown response times, first time fix rates and carrying out proactive maintenance we are able to make a tangible difference to their businesses."

A new category was also introduced this year for "Most Improved Service Partner," presented to Carrier Transicold South & West Yorkshire for delivering a 27 per cent performance increase.

"In recognition of their investment in the PACE programme, we offer our service partners financial rewards which vary in value against their overall standings in the PACE programme. This year the funds collectively totalled over a quarter of a million pounds, giving our partners the chance to invest back into their business and strengthen their own competitive edge," added Dargan.

Carrier Transicold service partners operate from 22 locations across the UK, supported by 175 mobile engineers. They collectively service and repair temperature controlled systems on vans, trucks and trailers and are on standby 24/7 to attend emergency call-outs.

Lynton Refrigeration, founded by managing director Steve Walsh in 1984, became a Carrier Transicold Service Partner in 2000. Trading as Carrier Transicold Manchester, it operates throughout Greater Manchester and Leeds to support Carrier’s growing UK customer base. In 2008 the company expanded its services into the North East of England by taking over Stockton-on-Tees based Carrier Transicold Northern.
