Cash for Kids Benefits from CHEP’s Generosity

A national children’s charity is on course to raise £16.7 million this year, and has been helped by a significant donation from a locally-based international pallet pooling company. Based in Trafford Park, CHEP is the global leader in pallet and container pooling solutions supplying its distinctive blue pallets throughout the supply chain to retailers and manufacturers alike, large and small.

Cash for Kids was selected as CHEP’s nominated Christmas charity in the UK. Instead of the company sending traditional Christmas cards to its customers across Europe, they now send electronic cards instead, and the money that is saved is donated to a chosen children’s charity that are nominated by each individual European country of operation. The European country leaders then vote for their favourite charity, with the UK nomination winning most votes.

CHEP’s donation of £10,000 has been very warmly received by the Cash for Kids Managing Director, Sally Aitchison: “Everyone at Cash for Kids would like to say a huge thank you to CHEP for their very generous donation which will go to helping many vulnerable children across the UK. Last year we raised £15.8 million which allowed us to help in excess of 500,000 children nationwide. This year, we aim to raise almost £16.7 million and it is companies like CHEP UK that will help us to achieve this target and make a real difference to children’s lives.”

Cash for Kids responds to the needs of children in local communities so they can live life to the full and realize their individual potential. Based across 21 areas in the UK Cash for Kids supports children aged 0-18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect. Fundraising is through a variety of ways including events, Cash for kids Superhero day, Big Bake day and its biggest campaign Mission Christmas.

Commenting on the move towards electronic Christmas Cards, Maureen Barwell, HR Director for CHEP UK & Ireland said: “Not only is this environmentally friendly but it also saves on costs. So it’s great that we can donate this saving to such a worthwhile charity as Cash for Kids. Christmas is such a special time for families and children, and we’re just trying to do our little bit to make children’s lives that little bit better.”

About Cash for Kids
Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities, which operate across 21 areas around the UK. Our mission is to respond to the needs of children in our communities, and we aspire to enable all children to live life to the full and achieve their individual potential.

Each Cash for Kids charity was established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters. Every year we raise millions of pounds for local children and young people who are suffering from abuse or neglect, who are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance.

With cash raised locally each charity guarantees that the generous donations made by listeners will go towards bringing hope, healing and happiness to children in their community. All the money raised on behalf of Cash for Kids stays in the area it was raised in providing a helping hand when and where it is needed most.
