CEO Arild Iversen of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics joins panel of Sustainable Shipping Awards

Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics’ CEO Arild Iversen is to join the judging panel for the 2010 Sustainable Shipping Awards which celebrate the efforts being made to reduce shipping’s environmental footprint.

Announcing his intention to join the panel Arild B. Iversen said: “Concern for the environment is not only good for our planet; it is good for business and for our customers. The shipping and logistics industry must continue to cut CO2, SOx and NOx emissions; curb invasive species in ballast water; focus on maritime safety particularly in environmentally sensitive sea areas and reduce energy consumption in land based assets such as ocean terminals.”

“Working in partnership with our customers and stakeholders, we can make logistics and shipping operations leaner, greener and more efficient. Our industry has recognised this and the commitment is gathering pace. The Sustainable Shipping awards continue to raise the awareness while celebrating the efforts made,” he commented.

The awards, which are in their second year, are being run by the publication Sustainable Shipping, the online information platform dedicated to marine transportation and the environment, which is owned by the Petromedia Group. The winners will be announced on 24 June 2010 at the Cumberland Hotel in London, United Kingdom.
