Leading European storage equipment manufacturer, Constructor Group AS, has unveiled its new distribution hub at the company’s Swindon site. Capable of stocking over 1,000 lines of varying stock items, valued at approximately £5.5m, the new, hi-tech distribution hub will be operated by a combined warehouse and logistics team of 12 personnel. It also provides the added benefit of operating as an assembly facility for the in-house construction of shelving end frames prior to delivery to customers requiring this service.
Fitted out with Dexion’s P90 silver I-Tox beams, Premierack and Cantilever racking and operated using a fleet of six forklift trucks including a CombiliLift, Reach Trucks and Counter Balance trucks, the warehouse facility also includes a state-of-the-art Warehouse Management System (WMS). The WMS enables fixed terminal visibility of all warehouse transactions from goods-in to dispatch, visible tracking of order picking progress in real time and mobile printing technology to reduce warehouse operator travel time. All functions are linked into a SAGE 200 Business Management Software Solution that handles everything from orders through to invoicing.
The new hub follows the amalgamation of the Dexion, HiLo and PSS businesses, which has provided Constructor Group with extensive in-depth knowledge and expertise of the storage industry. The Swindon distribution hub now forms the primary site for the Group’s UK operations, housing its design team, distributor sales, project management and all key support functions
Managing Director, Richard Moss, says: "Our new state-of-the-art distribution hub is a reflection of our position as a leading storage provider and illustrates our ongoing dedication to our customers and our determination to offer them the ultimate in service and product support. It provides us with an ideal platform from which to grow our position in the UK market with our renowned Dexion, PSS and Bruynzeel brands."
The new distribution hub adds to the Group’s existing UK warehouse facilities and provides a storage and cross docking operation for products delivered from other Group factories and third party suppliers. As well as retaining its current core range the Group will also be extending the portfolio of products it offers to the UK market.
