Courier company opens new depot in Cambridge

A Basildon-based courier company has ended 2008 with the opening of a new depot in Cambridge.

Managing Director at Abby Couriers, Mr Mark Giles, said: “Abby Couriers is currently enjoying a period of growth despite the economic down turn and that has led to us opening a number of new deports during 2008 including Colchester in Essex and Borehamwood in Hertfordshire both of which are now well established and bring extra benefits to the business.

“Our expansion plan includes providing services across East Anglia which is why we have now opened a depot in Cambridge and are recruiting four drivers to work from that depot.

“The growth we are enjoying is due to the reputation we have in the industry which is based on competitive prices and reliability.

“Our plans for 2009 include further expansion with additional depots opening in East Anglia and the South East based on sustainable growth and new contracts we are winning to provide a foundation on which each depot can build its business.”

Founded in 1994 Abby Couriers is a family run firm with a Head Office in Luckyn Lane, Basildon and offices at Welwyn Garden City.

With almost 200 staff the firm has more than 175 drivers on the road providing Same Day Delivery Services across the United Kingdom and Europe for key clients who include DHL, FEDEX and TNT.

Abby Couriers is a member of the National Courier Association, the Federation of Small Businesses and Essex Chambers of Commerce.
