European logistics specialists P and O Ferrymasters appointed booking agent for Italian business

Containerships Ltd Oy of Finland has appointed leading European logistics specialist P&O Ferrymasters as its sales and booking agent for Italian business transiting via the port of Rotterdam.

The appointment is effective from today. Containerships link northern Italy via Rotterdam with Helsinki, St Petersburg and the Baltic states through frequent container rail shuttles P&O Ferrymasters are using between Milan, Novara, Rome and Rotterdam.

Wim Blomme, P&O Ferrymasters’ Director Intermodal Division, said: "This agency agreement widens the scope of services and routes we are able to offer our Italian customers. With offices in Milan, Rome and Verona, we already have a strong position in the Italian market. By adding the short sea services of Containerships to our existing customer value proposition we are confident that we can increase business to northern Italy, Finland, Russia and the Baltic States."

Sigurjon Markusson, Chief Executive Officer Containerships, added: "P&O Ferrymasters and Containerships share the same goal of providing a door-to-door service to industrial customers that is second to none. P&O Ferrymasters has established itself as a leading player through its railway container services between Italy and Western Europe and we look forward to a mutually beneficial commercial partnership."

P&O Ferrymasters is one of Europe’s leading logistics and intermodal providers and is part of P&O Ferries, which is owned by Dubai World. The company employs 700 people at 29 strategic locations across 13 European countries.
