City Link, the UK’s premium express delivery company, has this week opened its first dedicated Post Sortation Centre in Coventry, bringing around 50 new jobs to the city.
Coventry City footballers Danny Ward and Michael Quirke kicked off the official opening ceremony at Cyan Park, Coventry.
The Centre at Cyan Park is the latest development in City Link’s growth agenda and marks the company’s further commitment to making Coventry the epicentre of its operations.
Post from across the country will be sorted there and the centre will be capable of handling up to 500,000 letters and packets a day. It will operate 24 hours a day and, at peak periods such as Christmas, seven days a week.
The company is poised to push for growth in 2011 and has already opened four new Depots this year, with two of them acting as Regional Hubs in Peterborough and Warrington.
City Link Managing Director Stuart Godman said: "We are delighted to open this new centre which will enable City Link to offer an even better service to our Customers.
"Post is an important part of our business and Coventry is an excellent location for us, being at the centre of the motorway network. Naturally we have an affiliation to Coventry with our National Hub in Baginton and another Depot in Rowleys Green and this further cements our commitment to the city.
The company has already demonstrated its commitment to Coventry by becoming the official club and shirt sponsor for Coventry City Football Club in a three-year deal which began at the start of this season.
City Link, which handles more than 1,000,000 parcels per week through its network of Depots, has recently invested more than £7 million in IT systems to improve services to its Customers.
