A conference session titled ‘Forecasting and managing excess capacity in the container industry’ will be presented by Sarah Bennett, of Lloyd’s List Intelligence (LLI) at Intermodal Asia 2014.
Intermodal Asia takes place from 1-3 April at the Shanghai World Expo Center and the special container forum will be held on day two in the Innovation Theatre.
Sarah Bennett, Container Analyst at Lloyd’s List Intelligence (LLI) will present predictions of the potential state of the container industry in the short term as well as looking at historical trends on the age of the container fleet and deliveries and demolitions.
"I expect the conference session to raise awareness of the current container market trends," says Sarah Bennett. "I hope it will help businesses to understand how LLI’s data can be used as a strategic business tool to provide insights to increase profit."
The conference session will also address the implications of growing fleet capacity on the Panamax fleet and global port calls. (Panamax is a term for the size limits of ships travelling through the Panama Canal.)
"This is an important conference session because it will identify the risks and opportunities within the container shipping industry that need to be considered when formulating a business strategy. It is vital for shipping lines, ship owners and ports," Sarah adds.
