FTA’s global supply chain expertise and free seminars return to Multimodal 2015

The Freight Transport Association is inviting visitors to this year’s Multimodal to learn about its involvement in national, pan-European and global logistics and supply chain issues, representing and supporting the interests of companies moving goods by road, rail, sea and air. Details will be available on FTA’s wide range of activities including the Global Shippers’ Forum, mode shift promotional activities, Freight by Water and the Logistics Buyer Information Service.

Now in its eighth year, Multimodal is the UK and Ireland’s premier freight transport, logistics and supply chain management event and represents every logistics sector under one roof, making it a unique and highly valued industry showcase.

On Wednesday 29 April – the second day of the show – FTA will once again be hosting its popular seminar day at the free to attend Multimodal seminar theatre, and visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to hear from industry and FTA experts through a variety of workshops and panel debates, with speakers from The Co-operative, Sainsbury’s, Network Rail, Lafarge, Peel Ports, ICHCA, Marine and Coastguard Agency, CA Group Ltd, and Belectric amongst the leading names taking part.

Key sessions include:
Measuring your carbon footprint – the importance of recording, reporting and reducing carbon emissions across the supply chain;
The Agenda for More Rail Freight – the key targets set by retailers and shippers for achieving sustainable growth in rail freight;
Freight by water – a look at the opportunities and how to make the shift
Preparing for new legislation on the verification of container weights – all parts of the supply chain will be affected by the new regulations which come into force next year. The panel looks at best practice and introduces the idea of accreditation;
Reducing the environmental impact and operational costs of your warehouse – using the building envelope to generate heat, solar PV & modern building design.

Chris Welsh, FTA’s Director of Global and European Policy, said:
“The Multimodal Show provides a great opportunity to bring customers and suppliers together. We are delighted to once again provide a series of topical seminars, including an update on key regulatory measures that will impact the logistics chain over the next 12 months and to exchange best practice, and steps currently in progress to enhance the sustainability of freight and logistics supply chains.”

Multimodal 2015 takes place at the NEC, Birmingham from 28-30 April. FTA can be found on stand 1064 in hall 6. Further information and the full seminar timetable are available at www.multimodal.org.uk
