Hire Association Europe and BSI introduce SafeHire new industry safety standard

SafeHire is undergoing a radical transformation following close working with BSI Standards Solutions. The development of a hire industry specification is the key outcome – a practical document aimed bridging requirements for safety management and service standards in hire operations.

The new Hire and Rental Industry Business Management and Service Quality Specification will be launched on Tuesday 14th December 2010.

Key partner organisations including BSI, CHAS, HSE, and Construction Skills will be present at the event.

Craig Phillips, C4’s first Big Brother winner and star of shows such as 60 Minute Makeover (ITV1); Housecall (BBC1); and Craig’s Trade Tips (BBC1) will be our special guest.

Graham Arundell, HAE Managing Director said: ‘The new hire standard gives SafeHire a major boost in terms of industry awareness, take-up and recognition. Safety is the top priority for the hire industry and SafeHire is being adapted to reflect changing operational requirements. We are grateful to BSI Standards Solutions and our other partners in helping to develop the specification. It will help SafeHire to become an even stronger practical tool for hire businesses.’

Notes:The launch will take place at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon SN5 8UB on Tuesday 14th December. The programme will start at 10am and will conclude with a buffet lunch.

During the event there will be an opportunity to make a donation to the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Partner organisations including BSI, HSE, CHAS and client group representatives will be giving presentations at the event.

The Hire and Rental Industry Business Management and Service Quality Specification will be available from HAE Direct after 14th December.

HAE represents hire businesses across the UK, Ireland and Europe and offers a wide range of services and member benefits.
