International transport and logistics provider EUROPA WORLDWIDE LOGISTICS expands its Eastern European operations

EUROPA WORLDWIDE LOGISTICS, a longtime market-leader in international transport and logistics, with developing markets throughout Eastern Europe, is looking to extend its services in the region by a combination of land and sea routes to the Baltic States, Russia, Belarus and the Ukraine during 2010.

Since 2006, Europa has forged a number of partnerships with Eastern European transport companies to deliver consignments to and from Eastern European countries. In 2006, Europa made an exclusive partnership agreement Erontrans to operate three service departures per week to and from Gdansk and Warsaw, and the service now handles in excess of 5000 shipments per year.

In 2007, Europa formed a strategic alliance with Lagermax, one of Austria’s largest transport operators to deliver twice-weekly groupage services to and from capital cities in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria and Romania. Over 10,000 shipments a year are now handled.

The partnerships between Europa, Erontrans and Largermax have provided a unique opportunity to develop Eastern European markets and, despite the recession, Europa is very satisfied about the development of its Eastern European services. Europa’s services are operated from London and Birmingham, and provide daily connections with its regional offices located at Heathrow, Northampton, Manchester, Newcastle, Bristol, Southampton and Glasgow. In general, smaller shipments are carried to Eastern Europe and larger shipments, such as part and full loads, on the return.

Many of Europa’s existing customers using the company’s other services have now also become regular users of their Eastern European services. Europa attributes this to the strong network it has developed over past years, as well as to the competitive rates it charges.

Says Gren Turner, Managing Director Europe, who oversees the company’s Eastern European services: "Europa counts some of the largest UK corporate and multi-national businesses among its customers trading in Eastern Europe. A fair proportion of these customers was attracted to Europa when we offered to examine their existing supply chain operations and were able to demonstrate the cost-savings and efficiencies which could be achieved by changing to Europa."

Europa’s full range of transport and logistics services are structured over six operating divisions. These are European Express, National UK Distribution, International Airfreight, International Seafreight, Project Forwarding and Showfreight Exhibition Services and Warehouse and Logistics. The detailed services and facilities provided under each division are set out on the company’s website.
