Lifting gear distributor Certex host free training seminar for rope and sling users

Users of wire rope slings must be quick on the uptake if they don’t want to miss out on a useful free training seminar later this month.

National lifting gear distributor, Certex UK, is hosting a free seminar to introduce users to its newly-launched Quic-Sling, the first wire rope sling on the market to fully conform to the latest harmonised European standard (EN 13414-1).

The seminar takes place on Wednesday October 27th at The Parkway Inn, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, and will run from 9.30am-12noon. Those attending will be offered bacon rolls for breakfast while safety experts from Certex UK demonstrate how to splice a Flemish eye and explain the manufacturing process behind the product.

Those attending will learn how to get more life from the product with prolonged safe use and pre-use inspection. There will be an opportunity to discuss industry concerns with Certex representatives, who will also explain the steps they have taken to address the HSE safety notice relating to other suppliers.

Quic-Slings are made at Certex UK’s recently opened manufacturing facility in Montrose, a production unit that produces lifting products for the off-shore market and supports the company’s regional centre in Aberdeen. The slings are the first fully conforming wire rope slings available and are made entirely from approved components and fittings from leading suppliers such as Crosby.

‘By producing our own product we have been able to fully utilise our own industry expertise and understanding of health and safety legislation,’ said Davy Young, Regional Business Manager for Certex. ‘We have worked hard to recruit the services of very experienced local personnel who have been making wire rope sling assemblies for many years. The seminar will be an opportunity to demonstrate this high standard of workmanship.’

Anyone wanting to book a place in advance, please call Davy Young on 0845 230 7475. Places may be available on the day, for those who haven’t booked, on a first-come-first-served basis.
