Cargotec, the world’s leading provider of load handling equipment, further strengthens its position as an industry pioneer in the development of sustainable cargo handling solutions and technology with the launch of its EcoService concept. The types of solutions offered in the EcoService portfolio will bring new levels of cost efficiency, productivity and reliability to customers’ operations.
"With operating costs and environmental concerns becoming an increasingly critical factor in the efficient management of equipment, Cargotec is setting the standard with EcoService’s range of sustainable, practical and economical service solutions," says Jason Smith, Director of Product & Concept Development for Service Solutions at Cargotec.
All types of heavy-duty material handling operations – from ports and terminals to specialist industrial applications – can benefit from the EcoService offering. The new service affords customers benefits such as improved reliability, longer and more cost-effective equipment lifecycles, sustainable parts sourcing, reduced fuel consumption, and a lower carbon footprint.
The first solution to be featured in the EcoService portfolio is EcoDriving. Here, Cargotec’s Training Academy teaches best driving practices to customers’ own operators. EcoDriving aims to extend the lifecycle of equipment and minimise costs – by curtailing equipment damage, reducing fuel consumption by up to 7 per cent, and lowering emissions – all without affecting productivity.
The new EcoDriving programme can be applied to Cargotec’s range of rolling equipment, such as terminal tractors, forklifts, empty/loaded container handlers and reachstackers, as well as other brands and makes. The benefits of EcoDriving are further extended with an optional follow-up programme which reinforces the training and maximises the customer’s return on investment.
The EcoDriving training syllabus has been created according to the highest standards in driver efficiency. The course, which can be completed in a few days, features the following topics:
Economical driving and lifting techniques
Improving knowledge of RPM verses torque
Interpreting information provided on the display
Educating drivers about their impact on fuel consumption and emissions
The course content can also be tailored to meet a customer’s need, depending on the type of equipment, the operational environment, and the number of persons to be trained.
To estimate the financial savings a customer can expect from EcoDriving, a cost-savings calculator is now available on Cargotec’s Training Academy website (www.cargotec.com/cta).
