Cargo Automated Storage Systems, the Oxfordshire based manufacturer of storage lifts, have installed a second turnkey design lift for CNC Precision turning company, Qualiturn Products, via Couzens Storage Solutions.
Located in Hertford, Qualiturn offer in excess of 10,000 hours per month capacity on an extensive range of CNC turning machines, with over 250 customers in the aerospace, automotive, surgical and electronic sectors. Following the installation of a 7.5m high Cargo Lift earlier this year, for storage of metal bar, complete with bespoke external presentation port, Qualiturn requested a second storage lift from Cargo to accommodate their extensive stock of machine tooling, finished components and machine tool parts.
To maximise storage space, the new Cargo Lift has been installed behind an access port on a mezzanine floor. The unit is the smallest made so far by Cargo, being 2m wide and just 0.6m deep. Standing 7.5m high, the Lift has 40 storage trays supplied on nylon runners to provide smooth and quiet operation.
Qualiturn's Managing Director, Nick Groom, said; “We've already enjoyed many benefits from the first Cargo unit, and we wanted to securely store our extensive stock of machine tooling, while maximising storage space. The Cargo Lift has an excellent security system, which means that no unauthorised personnel can access goods stored, and the biometrics security system negates the use of passwords.”
The Cargo Lift is a computer controlled vertical lift, storage and retrieval system. On command the lift transports selected items to and from the operator, improving productivity, increasing picking speeds and reducing costs, with trays that can move vertically up to 2.3 metres per second. The built-to-order Lifts are available in heights of 5 to 20m, and widths of 2 to 3.6 meters.
