The Smulders Group’s wind turbines construction facility at Hoboken in Belgium has ordered a 50tonne SMTD Konecrane which will operate on the same runway as its existing two 250 tonne Konecranes cranes.
The rail span is 40.4 metres and the crane will be fitted with Konecranes SMT cutting edge technology. SMT stands for SMT SMARTON®, which is an intelligent, yet easy-to-use Human Interface to Machine (HIM) system keeping the user continuously up to date on not only the weight of the load but also its position relative to the available workspace. In addition, the crane monitors its own condition and recommends when and what kind of inspection or preventive maintenance should be performed. This way, the customer can better plan and minimize maintenance shutdowns, thereby maximizing uptime and saving costs. The crane can also have Konecranes TRUCONNECT Remote Monitoring and Reporting service where the cranes performance is being continuously monitored remotely and should anything arise then a Konecranes engineer can automatically be despatched to site, without any request or call from the client.
The crane will have all of Konecranes standard features relating to their SMARTON product range, DynAHoist and Dynac variable speed invertor control on each motion, true vertical lifting on each hoist (both hoists are Samrton), HIM radio control with a spare transmitter and incorporating a load display and XYZ hook position indication, trolley platform, girder platform, hoist and lower limit switches, travel and traverse limit switches, anti collision system with adjacent Konecranes cranes on the same runway, festooned cross crane cables, panel lighting, plug and sockets at the panel, disc brakes on all motions, overload protection.
Delivery is planned for the end of July 2015.
