The Spaceway Group’s ability to provide a complete turnkey operation has resulted in the company winning the contract to fit out a prestigious and functional UK headquarters for Aurora World Ltd, one of the leading suppliers for end-end, soft and huggable toy designs for the global gift industry. Its superior designs and project management skills won Spaceway the contract on a competitive tender.
The new 35,000 square foot distribution centre in Basingstoke, Hampshire comprises of office accommodation and warehousing. Centralising the company’s operation into one facility, the new distribution centre has been designed and built to the company’s specification.
The Spaceway Group co-project managed the fit out and ensured that all work was carried out in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) and under the Construction Design Management (CDM) Act 1994 relating to health and safety regulations.
"We chose Spaceway because we felt they understood our company philosophy and we willing to go that extra mile", said Paula Hill, Office Manager of Aurora World UK Ltd. "Spaceway’s management team were extremely professional and kept me fully informed about every aspect of the fit out", she said.
At the onset of the project, Spaceway produced detailed designs for each sector of the building. To maximise space for the warehouse, Spaceway suggested the installation of a FlooriTall? mezzanine floor. Once this structural work had been completed, Spaceway fitted out the 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse with racking to create 2,500 pallet positions in a narrow aisle configuration.
The 5,000 sq. foot of office accommodation was fitted out with Komfort Kameo partitioning, suspended ceilings to create an impressive layout consisting of open plan offices, chairman’s office, boardroom, kitchen, etc. To complete the project, Spaceway installed an air conditioning and ventilation system, warehouse heating, electrics and lighting. Kitchens, a canteen and toilets were also designed and installed in the building. Finally, Spaceway’s Furniture Division supplied a range of furniture including Komfort Velocity desks, chairs and storage cupboards as well as café tables and chairs for the canteen.
"We looked at a number of companies, but chose Spaceway for their quality products, excellent reputation and first class workmanship", concluded Paul Hill. "Spaceway is extremely skilled and has great technical expertise which makes them a highly respected supplier".
