STERTIL STOKVIS CONFIRMS ENVIRONMENTAL CREDENTIALS
WITH 50% WASTE REDUCTION
Stertil Stokvis has built on the success of achieving the highly-regarded ISO 14001 environmental accreditation and reduced its waste by an enormous 50 percent. The market-leading loading bay and dock equipment specialist was first awarded the Environmental Management System accreditation in February 2007 and immediately began a complete review of its environmental policies.
During the comprehensive review, Stertil Stokvis studied the various environmental impacts of its business, setting challenging targets to reduce its carbon footprint. All company staff were encouraged to ‘think green’ and consider the effects of their everyday actions. As a result, when it came to renew its ISO 14001 accreditation, Stertil Stokvis was able to announce a 50 percent drop in the amount of waste it sends to landfill. This remarkable success was achieved by a combination of introducing waste recycling and investing in a compactor to process the remainder of the business’s waste.

ISO 14001 embraces a series of international standards on environmental management, specifying the requirements for an organisation’s compliance systems. It applies to those environmental aspects over which an organisation has control and where it can be expected to have an influence.
