For the second consecutive year, both Storax and Troax have carried off the “Oscars” at the SEMA Distributor Group SDG Supplier of the Year awards 2016. Storax retained the premier accolade, with Troax chosen as runner up.
Congratulating the winners, SDG chairman Jonathan Bennett said: “Well done again both Storax and Troax. You have consistently delivered on service to our SEMA distributor member companies. As individual businesses, we cannot excel in the marketplace without your meticulous dedication to supply. Thanks also go to all of our manufacturers.
“Since compulsory independent auditing of SDG members was introduced in 2014, we have seen the market become more discerning. The SDC logo is appearing on more and more tender lists as end users can now measurably recognise the benefits of the safe supply and installation of storage products. We are now looking at how to raise the bar still higher on standards.
“Our message to end issuers is to ask to see a current SDC Audit Certificate as proof that the correct health and safety standards are in place, they use only trained labour, storage is correctly designed and the firm carries appropriate insurance.”
The awards were made at SEMA’s second Combined General Meeting on 22nd September at the Best Western Manor Hotel, Meriden Coventry. Chaired by SEMA President Matt Grierson, the meeting brought together all SEMA member groups to learn and share best practice.
Gordon Jenkins, Director of Operations for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme explained how the SEIRS had satisfied the Construction Leadership Council’s requirements enabling them to display the CSCS logo on their cards. James Rudman, Senior EHO for Lichfield District Council reviewed a collapse investigation. Wayne Wiggins, Consultant and Trainer for QCS International Ltd provided and update on auditing for SDGs and SAIC member companies.
SEMA’s own personnel, Steve Cowen, David Corns, Lionel Drage, Chris O’Connor and Jaap Vos also addressed the 60-strong audience on wide ranging issues.
