13 – unlucky for some – but not CV Show 2008

With just over one month to go, this year's Commercial Vehicle Show from 15-17 April at Birmingham's NEC is already set to be the biggest and best yet. That's according to the visitor pre-registration figures from show organiser, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

"Today, 13 March, saw the figure for those registering online at www.cvshow.com reach 13,000," said Tony Young, CV Show manager. "That is well up on the comparative figure for last year and is a tremendous indication of the success of last year's show. We're confident that by the time the doors close on Thursday 17 April, we will have seen that number more than double."

But the good news doesn't end there. This week saw the last available area of exhibition space being sold - and that really IS a record. According to the Show's sales and marketing consultants Crystal Communications, there's now a waiting list of 'hopefuls', keen to be part of what is now Europe's biggest annual dedicated road transport and logistics show. Outside exhibition space has also been snapped up with over 40 vehicles covering 1,500 square metres of space.

David Sedgley of Roadlink International, Commercial Vehicle Show chairman, was also delighted at the latest figures. "Back in 1999, when we held the first CV Show, the Show partners knew that we were on to a winner - we were presenting a show that really was fit for the 21st century. These latest figures prove that we were absolutely right.

"This year's CV Show will be the biggest ever, the best ever and confirms the vital position of the UK's road transport industry within UK plc, and within the rest of Europe," he said.

The CV Show will be held at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham from 15-17 April 2008. It is the fastest growing and most successful business to business event of its type in Europe, with free entry available across the three day exhibition. The event is owned by the CV Show Partnership, comprising the Road Haulage Association, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders and the IRTE (Institute of Road Transport Engineers), a professional sector of the SOE (Society of Operations Engineers).
