One of Norfolk’s leading pallet freight distributors, Starlings Transport and Storage Limited, has chosen the Renault Trucks’ Range T for its long distance work following head-to-head comparisons - including crucial fuel consumption testing and driver acceptance - against competitor marques.
The three new 44-tonne Range T460 tractor units were supplied by Renault Trucks’ approved dealer Norfolk Truck and Van on a three-year contract hire through BRS Ltd. - one of the UK’s leading suppliers of commercial vehicle contract hire solutions.
Starlings Transport, which boasts a 25-strong mixed fleet, has enjoyed previously favourable experiences with Renault Premiums for Pallet Network local deliveries and was looking to replace other vehicles for its long distance business. The three new Range T vehicles will be used to transport goods for Starlings Transport’s diverse client base, including North Sea drilling equipment, building materials, nursery products and plastic packaging.
Starlings Transport’s Director, Matt Starling, explains why they opted for Renault Trucks. “The market is buoyant again, but highly competitive and we needed the best possible trucks offering optimum reliability, a good return on fuel as well as a competitive deal. Quite simply, compared to their competitors, BRS and Renault Trucks offered the best package overall.”
Matt Starling continues: “We carried out direct comparisons, testing the vehicles back-to-back with other brands and we were impressed by the initial fuel figures from the Range T. The drivers were also very positive, preferring the Renault Truck’s driveline and commenting on the space in the cab, which has been much improved. We currently have three trucks on the road with a further two on order for delivery soon. They are running fully-freighted, often at full weight and are performing very well under pressure.”
