Palletways Fulfilment, the warehousing solutions operation of Palletways Group, has celebrated its first full year of operation by investing in a new fleet of forklift vehicles at its base in Lichfield.
It has been a busy first year of operation for Fulfilment with many contract wins, including Beauchamp Foods, Albaad UK and most recently DHL/JCB and Weedons PSC. Services include: warehouse storage facilities, order processing, pick and pack services, co-packing, re-work facilities and multi-model delivery services.
The new vehicles, Translift-Bendi forklift trucks have a number of environmental and efficiency benefits, as Garry Curtis, General Manager at Palletways Fulfilment, explains: "The new trucks are electric powered and are charged by ‘High Frequency Intelligent’ chargers, which makes them more environmentally friendly.
They are also more efficient as they operate in reduced working space without giving up lifting capacity. This move is part of our ongoing commitment to enhance our working environment wherever possible, and as we take on more business the new fleet will help us to continue to provide excellent service for our customers."
The Fulfilment operation offers a significant amount of storage at over 100,000 sq ft – equivalent in size to that of seven Olympic size swimming pools. This is a mixture of racked, bulk and shelved space solutions. At one time, the twenty-strong staff can be working on as many as 60 different multi-user accounts and the team is growing.
"We are looking to take on more team members in the next few months as the operation grows, which is really exciting. We’re very much looking forward to our second full year and seeing the business go from strength to strength." said Garry.
Palletways Fulfilment is an integrated part of the Palletways UK network. The network is made up of some 100 plus member companies, which are all independent transport firms with local knowledge and expertise to provide a range of express distribution services including next day, economy and timed delivery options.By sharing resources all the members deliver small consignments of palletised goods to market faster and more cost effectively than traditional haulage methods.
