ABPmer marine environmental provides combined services to two adjacent wind farms

ABPmer (ABP Marine Environmental Research Ltd), a recognised provider of specialist advice to the marine renewables sector, has been contracted to provide technical input to two adjacent offshore wind developments in the Moray Firth.

These recent contracts will see the company working with EDP Renewables and SeaEnergy Renewables on the Moray Firth (Round 3) offshore wind farm development, and SSE Renewables and SeaEnergy Renewables on the adjacent Beatrice (Scottish Territorial Waters) offshore wind farm development. By providing coordinated coastal processes assessments to these adjacent sites, ABPmer will be able to deliver a more cost efficient and time effective service to both sets of developers.

Bill Cooper, ABPmer's Managing Director, said: "We're delighted to have been awarded these two contracts. We believe offering combined services like this will provide a greater degree of consistency in the assessment of any potential impacts, especially with regards to cumulative and in-combination effects."

ABPmer has a strong portfolio of offshore wind farm clients; its expertise has supported the majority of Round 1, Round 2 projects and is now working on a number of Round 3 offshore wind farms. ABPmer has also led several strategic level technical reviews related to marine renewables for Government and The Crown Estate. More recently, it has successfully launched its metocean forecasting service, seastates.net, which offers a customised integrated forecasting, data management and analysis service all in one site.
