Acumen Automotive Logistics Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Acumen Logistics Group, has announced that it has acquired a 100% shareholding and the assets of specialist enclosed car delivery operator, Enable, from the Stobart Group for an undisclosed sum. Enable is being incorporated into Acumen Automotive Logistics and its trucks and trailers rebranded.
Established in 2000, under the stewardship of Mick Hill, Enable has built up a reputation as a leading enclosed car delivery operator, dealing with visually sensitive and specialist vehicles which it transports throughout the UK and Europe. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Autologic Group, Enable became part of the Stobart Group following the sale of Autologic to Stobart in 2012.
Acumen Automobile Logistics has relocated Enable’s staff and vehicles to its recently opened Operating Centre in Coventry. Still headed by Mick Hill, who becomes General Manager, Acumen has also employed the company’s 12 drivers and two administration staff under TUPE transfers.
Acumen Automotive Logistics has already bought four new specialist enclosed car transporters and is planning to completely replace Enable’s existing fleet over the next 12-months. The new fleet will augment Acumen’s 20 new Scania tractor units and 20 Lohr trailers purchased recently following the company being awarded a number of major contracts from Jaguar Land Rover.
Peter Raybould, Director of Acumen Automotive Logistics, comments: “We are very pleased to be extending our service portfolio within the UK automotive logistics sector. Enable is a perfect fit with our sector-focused strategy. It will allow us to add specialist enclosed car deliveries to the growing range of services we offer the car manufacturing industry”.
Acumen Automotive Logistics commenced Finished Vehicle deliveries in 2009. In January 2014, Acumen Automotive Logistics expanded its contract to deliver both Jaguar and Land Rover finished vehicles to Southampton from Gaydon, Warwickshire and to dealerships throughout the South of England and Wales. In addition Acumen also undertakes ferry movements from Jaguar Land Rover Midlands’s plants to the company’s Gaydon distribution centre and other localised deliveries.
