Admiralty House dinner attracts shipping industry’s leading figures in support of Sailors’ Society.

Admiral Sir Christopher Morgan KBE, a former Director General of the UK Chamber of Shipping, hosted an historic dinner at Admiralty House in Whitehall, London in aid of international maritime charity Sailors’ Society. Also in attendance was Flemming Jacobs, a leading figure in global shipping and Sailors’ Society Campaign Board Chairman and Trustee, along with other specially invited guests representing key players within the shipping industry. Guests were treated to a pre-dinner tour of the historic venue by Charlotte Henwood, Curator of the Ministry of Defence Art Collection.

Admiralty House was the official residence of First Lord of the Admiralty until 1964. It has also been home to several Prime Ministers when 10 Downing Street has been renovated and U.S. President John F. Winston Churchill lived at Admiralty House while serving as First Lord of the Admiralty, during two terms, 1911-15 and 1939-40. It now contains government function rooms and three ministerial flats.

Sir Christopher Morgan addressed the guests at dinner, thanking them for attending and encouraging them to give personal donations as well as building corporate partnerships with the Sailors’ Society.

Speaking on behalf of the Sailors’ Society, Director of Fundraising & Marketing, Jan Webber remarked: "We were delighted to welcome so many friends and supporters to what was a very enjoyable and informative evening. Everyone agreed that the venue was spectacular and many of the guests have pledged to continue their support for the Sailors’ Society’s worldwide projects. We are delighted that it was a very successful dinner."
