TK Maxx has improved efficiency and saved time at its Walsall Logistics Centre with the simple installation of an air tube system to carry tickets from the Data Centre to the processing areas.
The 120m long tube system, supplied by Air Tube Conveyors, has stopped the need for a constant flow of associates carrying tickets between the Data Centre and Processing Areas which was both time consuming and disruptive.
Operating a chain distribution system, the four TK Maxx Processing Centres deliver to three TK Maxx Logistics Centres who then deliver the company’s designer label clothes and homewares to the nearly 200 UK stores. “The distribution processing must be very flexible to react to changes in customer demand,” said Femina Jagani, Distribution Services Project Manager of TK Maxx who led the decision to purchase the Air Tube Conveyors tube system. “With the fast turnaround of products which is a key to TK Maxx success, we are constantly looking for ways to make the sites work more smoothly and efficiently.”
“As distribution centres and logistics get ever larger, and delivery deadlines get ever tighter, we are increasingly seeing demands for our tube systems to undertake the task of moving shipping notes,” said Carl Miller, Director of Air Tube Conveyors. “The carrier will travel the 120m in under 20 seconds.”
TK Maxx has built its reputation on giving the customer high quality brands at up to 60% less than normal prices. The ranges it carries constantly change and the company is very aware of the importance of simplifying the logistics and removing cost from its processes. The purchase of the Air Tube Conveyors tube system meets both of these criteria.
