Rebecca Davies, 42, who heads up the Contract Packing Division at AKW Group, based in Trafford Park, ran the Shine Manchester half-marathon in three hours and twenty minutes to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
"I’m in a world of pain now but it’s all worth it for such a good cause and I’m really pleased with my time," said Rebecca.
"I’ve always been an extremely determined person and my main motivation with the run was to improve my fitness in a way that also gave something back to charity."
Rebecca, who has 25 years’ experience in Logistics working at TNT Express and AKW Group, is now considered one of the top experts in contract packing for consumer brands within the UK.
Kicked off by Manchester United and England legend Brian Robson outside Old Trafford, the first stretch of the run took Rebecca and 3,000 other runners past AKW’s 26 Bond depot, which manages the Contract Packing & Warehousing for the country’s leading consumer brands.
The route then took runners into Salford Quays and past the Imperial War Museum before passing more of Manchester’s most recognisable sites including Media City UK, The Lowry, Millennium Bridge, Castlefield Arena and Manchester Cathedral before winding back to the home of Manchester United.
"Towards the end when it got really tough the fantastic support I’ve received from friends and family helped me across the line and I want to thank everyone who sponsored me," said Rebecca.
So far Rebecca’s fundraising total stand at £1090 but it’s not too late to make a donation and support her efforts at her just giving page http://www.justgiving.com/REBECCADAVIES2012
