Alan Gibson ex Managing Director at Marlaw Pallet Services in Scott Group re-structuring

A re-structuring of the Scott Group, that has led to the formation of dedicated divisional boards, will drive improvements and increase efficiency according to Alan Gibson.

Formerly Managing Director at Marlaw Pallet Services, before its acquisition by John and Norman Scott of Scott Group, Alan is now heading the Group’s pallet division which incorporates new and re-conditioned pallets.

The new structure is set to deliver enhanced efficiency benefits for customers at a time of turmoil in the economy, while giving Scott Group a solid platform for further acquisitions and organic growth.

Alan, who takes on the role of Managing Director of the pallet division, said: "The new boards will provide an increased focus on each area of the business and enable us to drive forward improvements.

"We have also taken our most experienced people and put them into regional roles so that we can be more responsive to growth opportunities while giving customers the cost benefits of being with a national supplier and a personalised service through a strong local presence.

"A key aim in undertaking the re-structuring was to make it easier for customers to engage with us."

The re-structuring comes as Scott Group opens a new head office to further improve efficiency and communication across the business.

Formerly located at Rosyth, the Group has moved its Finance, Customer Service and Purchasing teams across town to a new modern office facility at Halbeath, Dunfermline. The facility will provide a central administration function, offering enhanced efficiency for the Group’s UK operations.

The Rosyth site will now be dedicated to pallet production and building on the Group’s already strong reputation for excellence.

Scott Group now consists of five separate divisions – Pallets, Packaging, Engineering Consumables, Returnable Transit Packaging and Agricultural

Each board will report to a central main board headed by CEO John Scott.

Alan said: "It was important for us to build in capacity for our senior management to analyse the market and ensure we are reacting quickly to changes. The re-structuring brings benefits both to Scott Group and our customers."
