2013 marks the 50th anniversary of Allport Cargo Services and the first anniversary of a reciprocal trading relationship between Allport and Wincanton's container business.
While the two businesses have worked together since 2010, the past year has seen the relationship progressively move from an ad-hoc arrangement to provision for a fleet of contracted vehicles that now total 24. Most importantly however, Allport and Wincanton are mutually supportive of one another in driving up loaded utilisation of transport assets to deliver cost and CO2 benefits.
Allport and Wincanton have built a strong relationship based on reciprocal trading, resource sharing and a tight knit team of dedicated staff working to a common goal of delivering supply chain efficiencies without compromising on service standards. This collaboration between two of the UK's leading logistics providers demonstrates how creative commercial solutions can support businesses in growing and difficult markets, managing change and creating opportunity.
Allport's Senior Transport Manager, Tony Belton explained "We are delighted with the way in which this partnership has developed with Wincanton's container team. They may be known predominantly for their best-in-class Port to DC service, but their fresh approach and expertise in adding value through innovative intermodal solutions and processes is what has impressed us the most."
