The Aluminium Packaging and Recycling Organisation (Alupro) will be using this year's RWM show to promote the campaigns and programmes it runs on behalf of its members to promote the recycling of aluminium and all metal packaging.
Visitors to the show are invited to drop by the Alupro stand, which can be found in The Materials Village, to learn about the activity it undertakes to support local authorities, waste management companies and community enterprises, helping them to realise the value of the aluminium packaging in the waste stream.
Local authorities, in particular, are being encouraged to visit the stand and discover how they can partner Alupro on its new 'Caps and Closures' campaign that is designed to improve aluminium recycling rates by educating households to leave the metal screw caps on glass bottles before they recycle them through either their kerbside recycling scheme or local bring bank. The campaign provides free communications materials including box and bank sticker artwork, web advertisements and PR materials to educate and remind residents.
Rick Hindley, Executive Director, Alupro said: "Although comprising only around 1% of the waste stream, aluminium punches above its weight in terms of the value it can add to a recycling scheme and Alupro has a wealth of experience and resources available to help collectors realise that value. RWM gives us the opportunity to talk directly to a wide audience about how together we can improve the UK's recycling collection infrastructure and increase recovery rates through the many innovative programmes we manage on behalf of our members and the wider metal packaging sector."
In addition, RWM visitors are invited to call by the stand to find out more about Alupro's new resources for schools, which link aluminium to the Design & Technology curriculum for 11-14 year olds, and Alupro's other popular campaigns, Every Can Counts and MetalMatters, which are currently enjoying great success and generating substantial improvements in aluminium recycling rates and increased consumer awareness throughout the UK.
