Whale Tankers, the leading liquid waste tanker and jetting equipment manufacturer, has supplied a new AquaWhale to one of its longest standing customers – Scottish Water.
The AquaWhale range of multipurpose vehicles offers high power and flexible combinations and this vehicle was commissioned for Scottish Water following a tender process. This latest addition to the Scottish Water fleet highlights a working relationship with Whale which goes back to before its evolution from the regional councils and then regional water authorities, through to the organisation as it is today.
Manufactured and designed using far less pipework than a conventional vehicle, it offers increased system performance and efficiency. The AquaWhale range features a unique design where the pump is submerged in a special water compartment, ensuring more effective cooling and reduced noise levels offering exceptional environmental credentials.
The vehicle also benefits from the ability to operate at lower temperatures as it is less prone to freezing, and features enhanced stainless steel storage lockers for ease of operation.
Frank Milne, Wastewater Operations East Team Manager for Scottish Water, said: “We have been working with Whale for many years and we come back to them with new commissions time and time again.
“We selected this tanker due to its high build standard, dependability and Whale’s reliable back up for parts and service.
“This particular vehicle will be used for wet well cleaning at pumping stations from Argyll through to Thurso in the North of Scotland, and will also be deployed for sewer cleaning and blockage removal.”
Additional benefits include a powerful liquid ring vacuum pump mounted inside the tank providing 2000m3/hr – 1178cfm. The air operated moving division allows for infinitely variable compartment ratios and unique position lock for the division, using air pressure instead of locking pins.
The Whale LiveTime feedback radio remote control offers 30 functions at the operator’s fingertips including status of vacuum pressure, water pressure and engine speed. The vehicle offers a hydraulic mega-reel with full hydraulic control including position slew. It also showcases powerful load sensing hydraulic drive to pumps from chassis engine and gearbox with low maintenance and economic operation.
