Europe’s leading producer of HC EVA (High Content Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), Arkema announces a
€80/T price increase for its HC EVA effective since April 1st 2007. Market conditions, combined with high production costs linked essentially to raw material, energy and transport prices, have
compelled Arkema to adjust its sales prices in order to restore a suitable level of profitability that can sustain its investments both into manufacture and into Research and Development.
Meanwhile, Arkema has decided to optimize its product range, and so plans to phase out those
grades with inadequate profitability. The first grade to be withdrawn from the range is Evatane® 2403HFN, originally developed for high frequency welding used primarily in multilayer packaging film.
Arkema, which supplies over 1/3rd of the European market, invested in a new EVA production plant
in Balan (France) in 2005 in order to boost its position especially in Europe.
Marketed under the trademark Evatane®, Arkema’s HC EVA copolymers are used in many
industrial applications, including hotmelt glues, cable, multilayer packaging film, encapsulating film for solar panels, in-car soundproofing, shoe soles, petroleum additives, bitumen, masterbatches and ink.
A global chemical player, Arkema consists of 3 coherent and related business segments: Vinyl Products, Industrial Chemicals, and Performance Products. Present in over 40 countries with 17,000 employees, Arkema achieves sales of 5.7 billion euros. With its 6 research centers in France, the United States and Japan, and internationally recognized brands, Arkema holds leadership positions in its principal markets.
