Celebrating an unbroken safety record at Auto Windscreens' factory has reaped rewards for Ashgate Hospice.
Six hundred pounds has been donated to Ashgate Hospice – representing a £1 for every day the factory has had to date without a 'lost time accident'.
The factory, which is based on Storforth Lane in Chesterfield, employs 60 people who handle more than a million pieces of glass and produce 250,000 windscreens every year.
Commenting on the donation, Alison Ward, a fundraiser from Ashgate Hospice said: “Thank you to all employees of Auto Windscreens. It is fantastic that money can be raised in such a positive way. It is the generous support of local people and businesses the enables the Hospice to continue providing care for our patients and their families.”
Abu-Haris Shafi, Managing Director of Auto Windscreens, added: “In the glass industry to have this many days without a lost time accident is an outstanding achievement. I'm delighted that Ashgate Hospice has been able to benefit from the factory's excellent safety record.”
