Automated warehouse logistics company TGW re-engineer its chain conveyor programme

Unit load conveyor systems are often the backbone of intra-logistics installations. Maximum availability of the handling devices, gentle pallet handling, low noise emission and an optimum cost-performance ratio are important requirements. Therefore, TGW has re-engineered its chain conveyor programme and advanced the well-proven technology by using Duplex chains.

The new standard TGW pallet chain conveyors have been re-designed to accommodate a maximum payload of 1500 kg (3300 lb) per unit load and handle varying, often poor pallet qualities. In order to be able to cope with these high loads in the long run, the new construction design of devices using chain conveyor technology involves 5/8" Duplex chains. This type of chain not only has a 40 % higher fracture strength than previously used chains, but also provides a larger contact surface, making pallet transport even more gentle. What's more, operators of material handling systems benefit from an optimised cost-benefit ratio.

Quiet Operation - Perfect for Workplace Applications

Further improvement comes from the reduction of noise emissions. Sound level measurements in the different development stages helped the engineers to find the best appropriate shape of the components and choose the optimum materials. Consequently, noise emission of the new chain conveyor could be reduced by 3 to 6 dB(A) compared to the previous chain conveyor version. The noise level can be further reduced by an optional "silence package" in order to meet the specifically high requirements of workplace applications.

Highly Flexible Pallet Handling

The new chain conveyor family covers the latest market requirements and permits TGW to offer their customers an extremely maintenance-friendly system for gentle pallet transport, low-noise operation and maximum handling flexibility for different types of pallets.
