AYS drives forward into hanging garment market

A UK logistics and road freight specialist has entered the hanging garment market after completing its first job in just a matter of hours.

AYS Logistics has successfully transported 70 different clothing ranges, picking them up from an export carrier and delivering them to London Mayfair in time for the grand opening of a new, high profile boutique fashion store. Making the job even more impressive is the fact that the entire operation was planned in just a matter of hours.

“We received the initial enquiry for the job outside of normal working hours during the night and had to load our vehicles at 6am the next morning, for delivery direct to store in Mayfair at 9am. It was very last minute but we managed to fulfil the early next day delivery requirement successfully, which is testament to the way we operate at AYS,” explained Mark Williams, Operations Manager at AYS Logistics.

Midlands-based AYS Logistics reserves its very own network of vehicles specifically for jobs in and out of London, which it can make available at short notice for urgent deliveries into the Capital. With an extensive team of drivers and warehouse professionals, this enables the company to work at short notice in order to fulfil next day and same day delivery requirements. The company is also able to fulfil international delivery requirements after recently introducing international shipping services to its growing service provision.

The hanging garment trade in the UK is a fast growing sector, and according to the British Fashion Council, is larger than the publishing, car manufacturing and chemical industries in the UK. With more and more high profile designers exporting garments from abroad and opening specialist stores in the UK, it is a sector braced for even further growth.

AYS Commercial Director Duncan Foyle believes that AYS already has the infrastructure to be able to thrive in the hanging garment delivery market and points to this recent speedy job as an indication of the company’s promise.

“At AYS, we pride ourselves on the fact that we deliver on time, whether for an international or domestic delivery, and have a dedicated fleet that can be on the road in minutes.

“Our boxed distribution model allows us to stock, pick and deliver hanging garment items to any location and as we showed with this project, even at short notice to tight deadlines.”
