Leading painting and decorating contractor, Bagnalls, has implemented a fleet-wide web-delivered satellite tracking service for its 115 vehicles. In operation for the past 18 months, the Masternaut Three X live tracking service has already paid for itself in driving efficiency and productivity. The innovative technology helps ensure that the painters get to site on time, underpinning Bagnalls' reputation for punctual service.
The Internet-based service comes into play as soon as a painter leaves home in the morning to travel to the customer site. Stops for painting supplies en route are also logged by the system. The always on system also helps monitor the safety and security of painters working in remote areas on storage tanks and pipelines. In addition, Bagnalls can compare mileage of each vehicle against fuel usage to maximise operational efficiency.
"The Masternaut Three X service provides a range of benefits that not only assist us to deliver a responsive and consistent on-time service it also enables us to monitor the health and safety of the workforce. It is very reassuring to know precisely where each vehicle is at any one time, particularly as projects can be in remote areas. Bagnalls is also using the service to support one of its environmental targets of reducing miles travelled by 20 per cent. The live tracking system will help by supporting accurate route and journey planning, and with assigning painters from the most appropriate local office.
"We have 14 regional offices and the system will help us to ensure we are optimising the use of the staff, vehicles and local offices. This will drive efficiencies further and support our carbon footprint reduction programme," adds Stephen Bagnall.
