Bakro International Transport add 10 Schmitz Cargobull curtainsiders to trailer fleet

As part of an ongoing programme to introduce new vehicles to their trailer fleet, European ferry freight specialists specialists Bakro International Transport have bought 10 new S.CS curtainsider Euroliners from Schmitz Cargobull.

The fleet upgrade follows Bakro’s recent opening of new facilities in Felixstowe and Rotterdam and the new trailers will be used to provide full load, part load and "groupage" services to and from Holland, Belgium and the Ruhr area of Germany to a number of diverse clients.

The trailers all feature Bakro’s distinctive blue and yellow logo against a grey background.

Having undertaken a thorough assessment of the trailer market, Bakro decided to order Schmitz Cargobull’s Euroliner models fitted with a sliding roof. The design of the trailers enables Bakro to load and unload from the side, through the rear (by forklift truck or other pallet handling equipment) and, thanks to the sliding roof, from above. This means that a variety of goods can be loaded efficiently and safely.

Bakro’s sales and development director, Kieran Ward, commented: "Thanks to the side, rear and top-loading functionality and the flexible load securing system of the Schmitz Cargobull Euroliner, there is no limit to the products we can handle which enables us to keep empty runs to a minimum."

The new curtainsiders have been built using Schmitz Cargobull’s pioneering and patented bolted and galvanized production technique.

Essentially, the bolted and galvanized process removes the need for any welding and, therefore, results in consistently high product quality and greater production flexibility. The galvanizing operation – all parts of the chassis are galvanized before the build process takes place – ensures that there is no corrosion within the joint when two parts of the trailer are brought together. Schmitz Cargobull offers a 10 year anti-corrosion warranty on the galvanized chassis as standard.

The bolted trailer manufacturing process brings a number of noteworthy advantages to trailer users, not the least of which is the fact that bolted trailers are quickly repaired if they become damaged. For the user this means significantly less downtime – and this was a significant influence on Bakro’s decision to invest in trailers from the Schmitz Cargobull range.

"If a bolted trailer is involved in an accident the original replacement part can be supplied overnight and the damaged part simply removed and the new piece put on. We perform our own routine trailer maintenance in-house and our engineers consider the Schmitz Cargobull products to be the easiest to work on," explained Kieran Ward.

"We have always prided ourselves on the appearance of our equipment, our ability to produce high levels of customer satisfaction and, of course, our ability to remain competitive. Schmitz Cargobull trailers help us to achieve all three," added Kieran Ward.
