Mike Parkin strengthens Barloworld’s Ports and Terminals team
Barloworld Handling, one of the leading materials handling suppliers for ports and terminals in the UK, has appointed a Sales Manager to support new projects and existing customers in this sector. Mike Parkin joins the company following 3 years with Kalmar and significant experience with other leading global companies.
"I have joined Barloworld at a time when there are some exciting developments in Mersey Docks, Bristol, London Gateway and Northern Gateway, and across the rail linked inland terminals" Mike explains. "Barloworld is proven in this sector with a customer base in almost every major UK port".
Barloworld is the UK distribution partner for Hyster, a global manufacturer that produces a full range of materials handling products including reachstackers, empty container handlers and forklifts ranging from 1 tonne to 48 tonnes.
"The company not only supplies Hyster products, it provides complete solutions with services such as driver training and fleet management, and supplementary equipment including terminal tractors, sideloaders and attachments" Mike says. As a global service company, Barloworld has one of the largest and most sophisticated customer support networks with over 550 field service engineers across the UK, many of which are trained and equipped to maintain Hyster’s big truck range. Barloworld also acts as the sole dealer for Hyster throughout Holland, Belgium, South Africa and South East USA.
"Barloworld has been building for the future, putting systems and people in place now, to accommodate for these major UK port developments, and for the turnaround in the economy" he adds. "I am pleased to be a part of it".
