School children are learning all about the advantages of recycling and sustainability thanks to a recycled dustcart and an educational DVD produced with a little help from Rotherham based glass manufacturer Beatson Clark.
Kier Street Services have refurbished an old dustcart for use as an environmental educational vehicle and now 'Dumpy' the dustcart together with Kier mascot Kieran go into primary schools and fairs teaching children the merits of sustainability and recycling.
A range of activities have been developed to allow children to lean through a variety of mediums and a film was needed for the in-cab DVD, showing recycling and the advantages it brings. For this educational film, Kier and their film crew turned to Beatson Clark for assistance.
The Kier film crew were allowed on site to get as much footage as they needed for Kieran to tell the story of how glass jars and bottles are recycled by Beatson Clark. Glass is a sustainable product and is 100% recyclable, a fact that Beatson Clark take full advantage of when manufacturing new products.
“Beatson Clark is keen to encourage recycling and sustainable practices and it is important to get this message across to everyone, particularly children,” said Beatson Clark's Marketing Manager Charlotte Muscroft, “We play our part in using recycled glass, but we are always happy to promote the advantages of recycling to a wider audience.”
Dumpy and Kieran, with help from Beatson Clark should see a new generation of people focused on their own environmental performance and the advantages of recycling.
