Bott Ltd, the UK's leading manufacturer of workplace and industrial storage solutions, has been named as workshop and equipment supplier for Gordon Murray Design automotive design company, Limited. Chosen for their strength, durability and style, bott's products have been specified throughout the entire prototype workshop facility.
Gordon Murray Design Limited provides innovatively-designed cars and the company is currently working on a futuristic lightweight, environmentally-friendly and economical vehicle. It required a storage supplier to provide an array of static and mobile workbenches, drawers and cabinets and bott was able to provide solutions that met the specific needs of the workshop areas, which had to be clean and ergonomic.
Paul Maynard from bott explains: "The prototype workshop is set out in two very distinct areas. Half operates as a production workshop incorporating metalworking and fabrication with a large volume of machinery alongside a woodwork and pattern shop. For this, we recommended static storage units.
"The other half was laid out to accommodate the building of the prototype car and the development support zone. For this part of the workshop, we specified mobile workbenches and drawer cabinets to house tools coupled with a significant amount of mobile shelving to store parts. The specific layout of the two workshops allowed us to deliver the optimum storage configuration and support Gordon Murray Design's ever-changing needs."
Having recruited some of the most highly qualified and experienced people in the automotive industry to work on the project, Gordon Murray Design Limited wanted to ensure the workshop facilities were of the highest standard possible as Simon Porter from Gordon Murray Design Ltd explains, "Technicians of such calibre deserve the best, which is exactly what bott delivered. The project manager at bott had a thorough understanding of what was required for the workshop and the team. The products had to be strong and durable while being aesthetically-pleasing. In addition, they had to be flexible to support the continual changes that would take place in the workshop as the company evolved."
