Braby the UK’s largest manufacturer of silos, vessels and tanks is now the exclusive distributor for the Oktomat big bag and Oktobox unloading system from Germany. The patented Oktobox range is unique to the UK and offers manufacturers an automated solution to completely empty storage containers. This latest move adds to Braby’s recent strategy to diversify into areas which compliment their existing product range. Over the last year, Braby has increased its offering to encompass – stretch wrapping machines from Epipack, Slovenia and GRP and thermoplastic tanks from Belfast based SiloTank.
The Oktomat solution provides efficient removal of material from big bags without the presence of personnel who are sometimes required to assist in big bag emptying for long periods of time. Conventional suction lances, or wands as they are more commonly known, can become trapped in the corners and in the bag material or are inefficient as material exits the bag. This creates material wastage and additional personnel expense.
The patented Oktomat solution uses a stainless steel suction head with a vibration device which moves material consistently down into the sack. As the material exits the bag, a device simultaneously lifts the bag upwards and inwards pushing the material downwards into an area the size of the suction head ready for complete removal.
With Oktomat, material is no longer wasted and extra personnel are not required. In addition, if these machines are used in multiples and are cross linked, they can also offer continuous running and automatic changeover of material supply. If used singularly, an alarm will sound to notify an operator when the container is empty.
Paul Mayer, Sales and Marketing Director at Braby said “we met Oktomat last year at an exhibition, and were invited to Germany to have a look at their solutions. We were very impressed by their range – and don’t believe that there is anything like it in the UK, so agreed to become their sole UK distributors”.
