BT Reflex, the driver’s choice at Border Biscuits

Toyota Material Handling UK supplies Border Biscuits with a BT Reflex reach truck with tilting cab, increasing productivity and reducing driver fatigue.

Border Biscuits recently invested in a purpose built warehouse to increase their storage capacity. This required additional handling equipment that could operate up to 9.5 metres. Border Biscuits trialled a number of trucks from different providers before choosing to work with Toyota Material Handling UK.

Toyota was able to deliver a tailor made solution for Border Biscuits by providing their Traigo 48 volt electrical forklift for general duties, and a BT Reflex E series reach truck fitted with the unique tilting cab. This feature makes stacking at height much easier, improving visibility and comfort for the operator. In addition automatic side shift and a programmed height pre selector was included making the stacking operation more effective, increasing productivity and safety.

The tilting cab feature remains unique to the BT Reflex reach truck. The key benefit is its ability to adjust the driver position to give a clearer view of the load whilst reducing neck strain. This can help drivers to work more productively, safely and reducing the risk of damage to goods.

John McGuiness, Warehouse Manager from Border Biscuits commented “Following a basic demonstration on site, we were eager to start a longer trial. The trucks features clearly stood out from competitors, particularly the tilting cab and we felt it would be a great benefit to our application and our drivers agreed. The reduction in driver fatigue and enhanced, safer load handling were clear from the start and it was the driver’s choice to proceed with the order.”

David McGarvey, Sales Executive at Toyota Material Handling UK adds “I have been working with Border Biscuits for the past 6 months to make sure the team received the right solution. Previously the warehouse team had only needed to reach to lift heights of 4.5 metres and had used a counterbalance forklift truck. The new warehouse required the lift height to be more than doubled to 9.5 metres.”

The new warehouse is now approaching full capacity, and the operators are pleased with the truck and feel the enhanced features of the truck greatly assist them in their day to day operation.
