In-night parts distribution and field service solutions specialists strengthen offering to field service sector

Field service solutions specialists, ByBox is extending its offering with the launch of ByBox Technical Services.

ByBox has revolutionised the supply chain to field service engineers with its network of 18,000 electronic drop boxes at 1,350 locations in the UK and its unique Thinventory ™ stock management system.

A host of blue-chip companies including Coca Cola, Konica Minolta and Bunzl are among ByBox customers who have stripped costs out of their supply chains by using the in-night pre-8am deliveries to drop boxes or pre-10am direct to site.

The system enables companies to reduce their stock-holding and warehousing, freeing up capital and reducing overheads, as well as facilitating the speedy return of faulty parts that are under warranty to manufacturers.

ByBox Technical Services now gives customers an even more streamlined supply chain that makes it easier than ever for them to meet demanding Service Level Agreements for repairs and maintenance.

Customers can benefit from stockholding at 35 Forward Stock Locations and a separate network of mini-Forward Stock Locations, a technical courier and engineering service as well as a dedicated repair centre.

Each of the 35 Forward Stock Locations offers an integrated storage, pick, pack and distribution service with the capability of holding emergency stock to meet 2 and 4 hour SLAs, same day and next day deliveries.

The mini-Forward Stock Locations are electronic iBoxes that offer an out-of-hours service without the out-of-hours charges, being available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is especially useful for field service engineers who work antisocial hours.

Moreover, each time an engineer scans a part out of an iBox, the stock levels are updated in real time to the ByBox servers that can automatically replenish the part from central stores overnight.

ByBox has recently acquired two companies to boost its technical courier service. Newcotech, a well-established tech-courier serving the IT, retail and telecommunications sector, is now part of ByBox Technical Services.

The Engineering arm to the Technical Services division is PPR Solutions; a specialist in high-end engineering supplying technical expertise capable of carrying out the more complex repairs that are time-critical on site – all at a variable cost.

Less time-critical but complicated repairs can be sent to ByBox’ Repair Centre at its main distribution hub in Coventry, West Midlands, where a dedicated team of engineers are ready to fix problems.

Founded in 2000 by CEO Stuart Miller with the aim of simplifying the supply chain to the field services sector, ByBox has helped some companies save substantial sums on warehousing and overheads.

ByBox now has more than 70 per cent of the field services market.
