Bunzl Vending Services has awarded leading in-night parts Distribution Company, ByBox as its 'Supplier of the Year'.
ByBox faced some stiff competition to win the award, but says it is thrilled to have won the coveted accolade bearing in mind the tough opposition from literally hundreds of Bunzl suppliers, including such brands as Tetley, Coca Cola, Mars and Kraft.
Commenting on ByBox and the award, Jo Maul, General Manager-UK Services for Bunzl Vending Services said: “We have been particularly impressed by ByBox's commitment to our business as a whole and the flexibility it has shown throughout the system changes, services and IT integration.
“This was a tough award to win as it relied on the supplier being rated in a number of categories by all our 60+ regional managers on such things as expertise and availability, technical support, after sales support, and delivery and timelines. Equally important as far as we are concerned were communication, responsiveness and innovation; categories in which ByBox scored highly.
“This was the first time ByBox has been eligible to be nominated as our supplier of the year and the fact the company is highly rated by our managers is testimony to the impact ByBox has had on our business since we started working with them. We are delighted that they have now won this award and it is a great reflection on what they have achieved so far.”
With Bunzl Vending Services responsible for over 35,000 vending machines in the UK, it was imperative the company found a flexible and cost effective way to ensure that all relevant parts reached its 200-strong team of field engineers as quickly as possible.
Using the ByBox in-night parts distribution system, parts are collected by the company from Bunzl suppliers the night before and are available for collection by its field engineers by 8.00am the next day, no matter what their location. ByBox achieves this through using its network of 14,000 delivery boxes sited at 750 locations throughout the UK. For Bunzl, it also provides a full data capture service from manufacturer to field engineer and back.
The benefits of the system thus extend from reducing engineer travel time and increasing their daily productivity to full visibility and control of parts provision, which in turn results in better stock control, reduced stock-holding, and a faster returns loop.
“We have worked hard with Bunzl to understand their requirements and design a system that exactly meets their needs and we are continually looking for new ways to improve the efficiency of the operation,” says Stuart Miller, Chief Executive of ByBox.
“I am delighted that our efforts and the undoubted success of what we have achieved so far have been recognised by Bunzl's managers by winning this prestigious award.
“Even if we did not win the award, the nomination alone would spur us on to working even harder in the future. We will keep on filling the boxes and hope Bunzl's managers continue to tick them,” he adds.
