Carrier Transicold Helps JJ Food Service Limited Cater for Market Growth

Carrier Transicold has secured an order for 60 Supra® 550 truck refrigeration units from JJ Food Service Limited, which was recently named 2009 Wholesaler of the Year at the Golden Grocer Awards. The Supra 550 unit is designed for safe, reliable transport of perishable and frozen foods. The system's proven reliability, low total cost of ownership and overall performance, alongside Carrier's high standard of serviceability, made the Supra 550 an optimal choice for JJ Food Service. Carrier Transicold is part of Carrier Corp., a business unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

JJ Food Service, which operates a fleet of more than 200 vehicles across five branches, is considered a leader in the UK food distribution industry as the company is known for combining the use of advanced technology with the highest levels of service. The company's fleet delivers to all catering sectors, from high street restaurants to educational establishments, along with many contractual accounts.

"Our customers have a high expectation of temperature integrity, and the Supra system fulfils this need," explained Mick Montague, transport manager, JJ Food Service. "Customers have come to rely on us delivering the highest standards of service, and we therefore demand that from our suppliers. Carrier Transicold has delivered every time." The majority of the JJ Food Service's fleet is purpose-built to deliver perishables in the best possible condition. The high capacity and airflow of the Supra 550 unit allows for maximum product protection, and the exceptional reliability of the system not only supports JJ Food Service's quality goals but also contributes to low cost of ownership.

Carrier's Supra series is also one of the most accessible and most serviceable truck systems available. Many truck systems have generators that are installed in confined spaces beneath the truck engine, which can be difficult and time-intensive to access when service is necessary. The Supra 550 unit instead uses an independent diesel drive system that can be easily, quickly and safely accessed. This feature minimises the length of downtime related to service, which can lower the cost of ownership. Additionally, the independent diesel drive system maintains temperature integrity regardless of engine speed and is perfectly suited to the high quality demands required by JJ Food Service.

"Every Supra system is also backed by expert service and genuine Performance Parts through our comprehensive dealer network, so no matter where JJ Foods expands in the future, we can be there to support them," said Pat Quinn, Key Account Manager, Carrier Transicold.

All Carrier truck refrigeration units are designed to operate with the lowest noise levels of any diesel refrigeration units and to deliver the optimum balance of low engine emissions and high fuel economy through more efficient combustion.
