Long-established Cartwright customer CM Downton Ltd has taken delivery of 50 new curtainsider trailers in time for Christmas.
Cartwright pulled out all the stops to deliver the trailers – which will be used to support Downton’s nationwide print and publishing operation – following the initial order in September.
The curtainsiders were designed and built to the Gloucestershire-based haulier’s individual specification, which consisted of a number of specialist features including EN12642XL compliant body and curtains.
The Downton trailers were fitted with both Magnellis® bearers and side raves, providing a far more effective defence against corrosion. The chassis was painted in Downton colours.
Geoff Wright, Chief Fleet Engineer, CM Downton, commented: “Customers are looking for increased capacity as the market begins to improve and demand from their clients kicks into gear.
“We’ve experienced a sharp upturn in demand over the course of the second half of this year and we need to be able to flex our fleet accordingly. Knowing that we have partners such as Cartwright who can meet our brief and deliver on tight timescales is very valuable to our business.”
Mark Cartwright, Group Managing Director of Cartwright, added: "Downton is a highly valued customer with a well deserved reputation in the transport industry. Indeed their growth in recent years speaks for itself.
"We were delighted to meet the deadline for this major order in line with Downton's requirements."
